5 Tips For a Birthing Revolution

Posted · 6 Comments

THERE IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT to believe in the power of birth. Here Here! Seriously, people, this is the age of birthing enlightenment where we remember that our bodies know what to do. Getting yourself ready for an empowered mindset takes energy. Here’s how to support the awesomeness.

1. THINK GOOD THOUGHTS

This one is a no brainer. OK, it’s an ALL BRAINER. Researchers say we have thousands and thousands of thoughts a day and that those thoughts shape our existence. When preparing for a cultural-wide birthing revolution or one of your very own, then filling your mind with good thoughts will lead you directly to success. Fill your mind with the birth of your dreams. See births you like. Talk to people who have had the birth you want to achieve.

2. DRINK AN ALKALIZING BEVERAGE

Your body is necessary for populating the Earth. If you take care of it, then you take care of everybody. Since we are mostly made of water, then we benefit from drinking the right amount of it. How much? Eight glasses should do the trick unless you are really rocking the work-out routine. Then it’s a solid gallon. Drinking an alkalizing beverage in the morning will support a balanced body state. An alkalizing beverage is this: glass of water with 1/4 of a lemon squeezed in it or a touch of apple cider vinegar. Take it to the next level with an alkaline diet consisting of vegetables, low-sugar fruits, nuts, and healthy oils. Oh, and whatever you’re eating…savor it!

3. GET YOUR HEART RATE UP ONCE A WEEK

Bust your ass. Bust it. Bust it. Bust it. Exercise is mandatory.

4. I LIKE MYSELF

Say it. Say “I like myself.” Say it ten times throughout your day. Every day. It’ll really come in handy when the nay-sayers get their loud speaker in your face. “I like myself. I like myself. I like myself.” It’s kinda like when Kramer said “Serenity now!” OK, it’s nothing like that. But the point is this: participating in a revolution of any kind takes composure and strength. You deserve it.

5. FIND THE NEAREST MIDWIFE AND GIVE HER A HUG

Seriously. Hugs are awesome.

    Thank you for posting this!

My wife and I had a marvelous birthing experience, and we owed it so much to our midwives at a Birthing Center in Columbia, SC. They prepped and coached us in a way that was so empowering that we were able to adequately coach ourselves when the date came for our wonderful girl. It was a water birth, which I highly recommend.

    Keep it coming!

When I hear stories like yours, Oak, I feel excited to be part of this exciting upswell of awesomeness. Fabulous to hear of your success as a birth partner and your gratitude for the midwives that empowered you to rock the birthing time. Was this your first birth? Was it at Covenant Birth Center in Columbia, SC?
